How project Resole began:
Returning from a climbing trip in 2023, Jess and Andrew kicked around the idea of resoling their own shoes. It was evident by the number of holes in other peoples shoes that the service was needed in the Philadelphia climbing community as well.
Six months of emailing manufacturers, researching, learning from other resolers, and much practice, Project Resole was born.
Project Resole was founded to provide a quality repair service to the Philadelphia climbing community. Our goal is to provide services that improve the climbing experience of individuals, and reduce the impact of waste in the climbing industry.
About the founders
Jess frasher
A self proclaimed hobbyist of hobbies, Jess has over fifteen years experience in professional fabrication and design. Starting a longboard skateboard company in high school was the first endeavor to expand his skills and build his love for entrepreneurship. In later years Jess would spend time as an apprentice guitar luthier, photographer, sign fabrication artist, graphic designer, and bike mechanic.
In college he found his love for rock climbing and has taken that passion across the US and internationally; from deep water soloing in West Virginia to sport climbing in the Italian Alps and Kalymnos Greece.
Andrew li
Andrew’s path to the resole industry was rather off route and full of unplanned falls. With a background in philosophy and clinical social work, he dedicated eight years to serving as a mental health therapist in various settings. He has long invested in the work of healing and repair; previously with hearts, now with shoes.
Andrew’s passion for climbing was just as unlikely given his aversion to heights, the outdoors, and anything remotely dangerous. He fell in love with the aspect of overcoming both mental and physical challenges. His favorite sport climbing trips have been to Kalymnos (Greece), El Potrero Chico (Mexico), and Rumney (NH).
When he grows up, he wants to become a professional pickleball player and competitive speed puzzler.
